Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama just a short drive from Nashville and spittin’ distance from Muscle Shoals, Benny picked up his first guitar at 12 years old and immediately knew that it would always be a major part of his life.
Garage band practices lead to private parties, sock hops, coffee shops and eventually pubs and nightclubs.
He has performed in clubs from Maryland to California both solo and with bands, having gigs at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf and Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
He came to songwriting later in life inspired by great lyricists such as Steve Earle, John Prine and Harry Chapin. His lyrics come straight from the heart and will either make you laugh or cry, as they range from tear-jerking serious to belly-laugh comical.
Currently getting frequent airplay on local FM stations and internet stations around the world, Benny’s songs have done well in numerous competitions including The Great American Song Contest, Nashville’s Rising Star and The Josie Awards.
Although he loves to sing, he says that there is no greater compliment than having someone else want to sing one of his songs and include it in their own project.
